Since 9 April, Tony Hall has been cycling 1000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for the Fund.
Wing Commander Tony Hall, 63, from Sleaford served 32 years regular service in the RAF as a Training Officer with ISTAR Force at RAF Waddington.
Tony, who now serves as a full-time reservist, decided to take on the solo challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money to support the RAF Family, saying: “I have been a fundraiser and volunteer for the RAF Benevolent Fund throughout my career. This will be my last major event before retirement.
“I have enjoyed many of the welfare facilities provided by the Fund across RAF Stations and want to give back to the Fund for all the vital work they do.”
Tony has raised over £1,270 for the Fund throughout his challenge. He added: “Riding a 33-year-old bike, weighing 25Kg, from Land’s End to John O’Groats in support of the Fund has been emotional. Very tough, cold, wet, windy days have been mixed with amazing scenery and warm sunshine. Along the way I have met many lovely people and enjoyed some amazing moments with local wildlife.
“One of my main aims for this challenge was to raise awareness of the great work that the RAF Benevolent Fund does. This has made the whole journey, including the painful days, all worthwhile.”
