On Monday 23 June 2025, Flying Officer Tajé-Wayne Sutherland will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund.
The challenge consists of climbing three of the best-known peaks in Yorkshire including Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). The aim of the challenge is to walk the 24-mile route within 12 hours.
Tajé-Wayne, 24, has served in the RAF for three years and is currently based at RAF Leeming. He said of his decision to raise money for the Fund: “I resonate with what the RAF Benevolent Fund stands for; being there and supporting families and friends of those in the RAF, former or present, in multiple facets. I feel extremely proud to be able to raise money for the Fund in this way.”
Excited about the upcoming challenge, Tajé-Wayne added: “I haven’t walked the three peaks before and with summer approaching, it will be great to get outdoors to take on the physical challenge. Hiking this distance isn’t something I do very often at all, so I will be stepping out of my comfort zone massively!
“I’m most looking forward to taking part in an event that I wouldn’t usually get the opportunity to do, and that feeling of accomplishment once it’s complete!”
