When Paul Thomson found out he'd won £500 on the RAFBF Lottery this month he thought somebody was pulling his leg.

"It was a wonderful surprise," says Paul from North Connel, just outside Oban, said: "I've been doing the RAFBF Lottery for about a year and never won anything. In fact I always say that I’m one of those people who never win anything.

I joined it because I wanted to do something to help those who serve our country and help others. I donate regularly to charities such as the RNLI and when I had some extra cash I decided to donate regularly to some more causes and the RAF was my first choice.

I've never served in the RAF but I've always had an interest in aircraft and the RAF. I was one of those kids who had Airfix models hanging from the bedroom ceiling – I still would but the missus won't let me!

I'll put my lotto winnings towards a family holiday. I'll keep playing – who knows I might be on a winning streak!
