For Women’s History Month this March, we want to honour the achievements of Britain’s first female RAF fast jet pilot, (Honorary) Group Captain Flight Lieutenant Jo Salter MBE.
On 10 February, members of the RAF Family completed a sponsored walk to honour the memory of Flight Sergeant Carrianne Franks and raise money for the Fund.

Former Flight Lieutenant Jack Lyon was just 23 when he joined the RAF as an Aircraftman. He entered Stalag Luft III, the scene of the Great Escape, in 1942 when it opened and was later moved to the north compound, home to the tunnels 'Tom' , 'Dick' and 'Harry'.
Former Flight Lieutenant Charles Clarke was imprisoned in Stalag Luft III after being captured on enemy territory. Before his passing in May 2019, Charles told us about his capture.
